Evolution of Coffee @ Grounded

Here at Grounded, serving a good cup of joe is imperative to us, and we’ve gone the extra mile to do so. Coffee is a way of life, and we take it seriously. This summer was a turning point for our coffee. We shifted our focus on producing not just a good cup of joe, but the best coffee in Ottawa. Ambitious, I know. But when it comes to good coffee, anything is possible! By finding roasters who share the same passion for their product as we do, we have changed our coffee offerings to bring you some really exciting stuff! Finding Your Perfect Cup of Coffee - Brewing Ratios

Coffee. Some people love it, some people hate it. Some people drink it to wake up, some people drink it to live. Coffee lovers come in different shapes and sizes, and the “perfect cup of joe” depends on the person. Introducing JB!

Hello coffee lovers and enthusiasts alike! My name is Justin, but you can call me JB. Much of my knowledge about coffee has come from my time spent working at some of the best coffee shops in Newfoundland and visiting coffee farms in Central America, but every day I continue to learn something new...

If you are following a strict diet, or dealing with a lactose intolerance then follow your prescribed intake, by all means. Similarly, if a personal philosophy drives you to not ingest animal products, power to you (I also have almond milk in stock). My feelings on coffee fall largely inside the cup rather than outside of it. I like to extract espresso with a high dosage of coffee to give it good body, and pour a high fat content milk or cream over that espresso to give it...

Pretty Pictures on Coffee

More and more the standard skill set of the barista includes the flourish of pouring a heart or fleurette on the top of your cappuccino or latte. These pictures are lovely, but do they actually add to the flavour of the drink itself? Broadly, the answer is yes! To paint a picture on your cup, the canvas must first exist to be painted upon. In this case the canvas is the crema of the espresso. A nice dark and consistent crema usually signifies a shot of espresso pulled with care, often with a high dosage and an emphasis on the beginning of the shot, where the darkness, richness, and flavour lives. The paint for this picture, to extend this tortured...
